BSc Hons.Computer Science with Research
Department of Computer Science, University of Kerala has engraved a strong research culture in Computer Science and allied areas. The department offers research-oriented post-graduate and under-graduate programmes, guided by renowned faculty, in a conducive environment for learning, thinking and achieving program specific goals.
University of Kerala introduced the Four-Year Under Graduate Programme (FYUGP) during the academic year 2024-25. The FYUGP in Computer Science is one among the sixteen major programmes at the Centre for Under Graduate Studies along with a basket of innovative minor programmes. The curricula of the programmes have been designed by the expert faculty members of the University to equip students with the knowledge base, intellectual abilities, multidisciplinary perspectives, flexible skill sets, basic expertise, social commitment and research aptitude that will make them responsible citizens in a knowledge society and offer them multiple opportunities in research and employment.

The B.Sc. Hons. Computer Science with Research is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of computing. The main objective of the programme is to provide the students with rich and specialized skill sets required to handle the computing systems that solve real world problems. All aspects of knowledge acquisition, storage, processing, presentation and transition will be covered in the course. The course covers almost all the core subjects in Computer Science: Design and Analysis of Algorithm, Programming Practices, Computer Networks, Software Engineering, and Database Concepts in addition to baskets of elective courses. Provision for advanced knowledge in Computer Science, current and emerging trends such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Cyber Security are the major attractions of the programme. The project and internship in R&D institutions / industry as part of curriculum will mould the students towards achieving specific academic and industrial goals. The Dissertation intensively focus on research projects and prepare students to be R&D professionals in industry and academia.

Programme-Specific Outcome
i. Students will demonstrate an in-depth understanding of core concepts and theories in computer science.

Duration : 4 Years (8 Semesters)
Eligibility/Qualification: A pass in Higher Secondary (Science stream) or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the University of Kerala with Computer Science /Computer Applications/ Mathematics as one of the optional subjects.
